Roger Deakin's Shepherds Hut - A4 Print: £15  

Bishop Rock Lighthouse near the Isles of Scilly is amazing for several reasons . At around 167 feet tall this imposing giant is often called the ' King of Lighthouses'. Reports vary slightly but give or take a foot this makes it the joint tallest Lighthouse in the UK (along with the current Eddystone Lighthouse.) This miniscule outcrop also formerly held the record for the smallest inhabited island in the world, yet no less than three lighthouses have been built here. The first, an iron screwpile structure, was washed away before it was ever lit. Believe it or not the latter two both still stand. This might seem impossible on a rock measuring only 46 meters long by 16 meters wide. That is, until you think of a Russian doll. James Walker's stone tower was completed in 1858 but by the 1880s dangerous cracks had apeared. The renovation work fell to Walker's successor James Douglass. Douglass liked things big, really big.
